Born the third child to Henry and Catherine Howard, Katherine was educated at home till she was 14 years of age. When at 14 she was sent to France to continue her education.

Through the family's friendship with Lord Manners, The Earl of Rutland, Katherine was sent to the Manners at the request of her father to perform the duty of Gentle Woman to the Lady Isabel Manners, Countess of Rutland.

Katherine being a kindred spirit to the Lady Rutland. The two have a great fondness for one another the two ladies even seem to read each others thoughts at times.
